Overview

Most people now use AI every week and understand it hardly at all. This short course closes that gap in four weeks. You learn what a language model is actually doing, how to brief it so that it does useful work, how to use it with your own documents and data, and how to recognise the failures — hallucination, bias, leakage — before they reach a customer or a boss.

Classes run live online on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, with recordings and a campus workspace for everything you miss. Each week ends with a short practical: a prompt library for your own role, an analysis of a real document, and finally a one-page AI plan for your team.

The course is deliberately tool-agnostic. You will work with the assistants and office tools you already have access to, and leave able to evaluate the next one that appears.

Outcomes

  • Explain, in plain language, how language models and generative AI produce their output and why they fail.
  • Brief an AI assistant with role, task, context and format so that first drafts are usable.
  • Summarise, extract from and analyse documents and spreadsheets with AI, and verify the result.
  • Apply a practical checklist for privacy, bias and hallucination risk, and write a one-page AI plan for your team.
